Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Place de la Concorde is crazy busy. Fashion Week has a lot to do with that, of course, but another event is pulling in the curious passers-by. In the cozy surroundings of the Hôtel de Crillon, starred chef Paul Pairet is launching his new gastronomic concept, Nonos & Comestibles. Set in the Brasserie d’Aumont, this hybrid eatery combines a brasserie (Nonos) and aNew York in 1880. Some became familiar names like Kat’z Delicatessen (founded in 1888) on the Lower East Side where immigrants recently arrived in the neighborhood could order familiar specialties such as pastrami sandwich or a Reuben – a sandwich made from corned beef, melted cheese, cabbage and Russian dressing. Part of the history of New York, these delicatessen stores have made their way into popular culture, including Kat’z, where Meg Ryan playacts an orgasm in the movie by Rob Reiner (1989).
