Last March, the Michelin Guide awarded a second star to Philip Chronopoulos, chef of the Restaurant du Palais Royal that belongs to the Evok Hôtels Collection group. A distinction that gives top billing to the inventive and precise cuisine of this young chef, formerly with L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon. From the contemporary dining room decorated by Christophe Tollemer with natural oak and wicker furniture, guests enjoy the benefit of a unique view of the splendid Palais-Royal gardens. Now that the weather is warm, opt for one of the tables on the lovely terrace overlooking the gardens. Philip Chronopoulos has carefully concocted a menu that changes with the seasons. A nod to his Greek origins, the chef begins the meal with a plate of feta/herbs/tarama/egg. Then savor the Saint-Jacques scallops/sorrel/green apple/endive (€64) or broccoli/lemon/verbena/caviar (€66). Seafood lovers will have a choice of sole/saffron/squash/makrut lime (€75) or sea bass/black truffle/celery/tarragon (€103), while others will delight in piglet/quince/onion/mustard (€73) or milk-fed lamb/artichoke/oregano/chick pea (€80). Desserts like the baba/rum/coffee or pear/chocolate/hazelnut put the finishing touch on a magical meal. Tasting menu at €215.

TZANTZA 1st

58, rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau. Tel. 01 40 26 11 52. www.tzantza.paris

7:30pm to 10:30pm • Closed Sunday and MondayAverage price: €55.

Tzantza, the restaurant near the Bourse de Commerce, opened with the ambition to become a favorite among the film, music and fashion elite for its festive and cosmopolitan atmosphere. The interior design by Studio Louis Morgan sets the tone with its bronze velvet bench seats, its opaline and brass bubble hanging lights by Tom Dixon, its retro wall lamps and oak floor… all bathed in a luxuriant and tropical plant atmosphere with a spectacular dreamy and exotic fresco by Julien Colombier. Seated with friends in the back room at the long table d’hôtes for 16, or at one of the tables for two opposite the bar tiled in British racing green, guests share tapas-nikkei plates of local fare by chef Roberto Sanchez, who learned the ropes at Le Grand Véfour and Le Bristol: crispy baos, shredded lamb, pickled onions, yogurt sauce, tempura oysters and red tomato chalaca, catch-of-the-day tiradito and tiger’s milk, a generous marinated veal chop with aji amarillo and breaded with panko for two (€54). Those who like to go to bed early will have to make do with one of the two desserts on the menu. Night owls can head down to the bar-club Sauvages, a modern-day speakeasy where they can sip on signature cocktails to the sound of the latest mixes.

To celebrate the arrival of sunny weather and the reopening of terraces, the chef proposes a summer menu that focuses on seasonal ingredients around refreshing cocktails and plates to share, with herbs and aromatic plants to heighten the flavors of each dish. The evening menu thus features octopus with smoked paprika and lemon confit, Tauziet chicken with sage or an astounding lobster with licorice, and desserts that play the same gourmet score with a peach, apricot an thyme upside-down tart, a variety of strawberry delights served with basil sorbet or, in keeping with the holiday spirit, a red berry Tropézienne tart for two. The tables set in the shade of the parasols invite guests on a magical escape in a haven of green, surrounded by olive trees and the soothing scent of lavender. The terrace is open Monday to Friday for lunch from the restaurant menu. From Tuesday to Saturday, starting at 5pm for drinks or 8:30 pm for dinner, until 10pm, you can unwind on the terrace of Le Roch with a vintage bamboo bar to complete the seaside atmosphere. The cocktails with dreamy getaway names (Antiparos, Ischia, Ramatuelle, etc.) are paired with plates to share. Before giving in to the temptation of the delicious dishes on the menu…
