THE FRENCH TOUCH IS STRONGER THAN EVER
summer of discoveries, curiosities and festivities awaits us at the Galeries Lafayette department store during its French Touch operation. The most fashionable and exclusive – or otherwise discreet – brands are contending for pole position in the fields of fashion, beauty, decoration and cuisine. Personalities and iconic collectives have joined the venture, against a background of great cultural melting pots, eclectic music, movie shows and experiments in beauty floor of the Magasin Coupole, photographs by Ambroise Tézenas reveal the progress of restoration work at the Musée de la Marine. To celebrate this profusion of Made in France ingenuity, the great department store has brought in the artists Gaëlle Gabillet and Stéphane Villard from Studio GGSV. They have turned the superb dome into a conceptual, experimental, architectonic design area where the strange competes with the fantastic. Their take on the glazed dome that symbolizes the emporium continues as far as its store windows on the Boulevard Haussmann, which are decorated in the colors of the French Touch. The Galeries Lafayette also commissioned the duo to embellish the historic stairway with a trompe l’œil fresco unveiled for the occasion.
