As the specifications for the standard gauge Tours-Vouvray line foresaw a maximum speed of 16kph, the company opted for Rowan steam railmotors. In 1898, operation was entrusted to the Tours tramway company, whose network was metre gauge. The line was therefore re-gauged. As no Rowan stock was available in this gauge, the trains were hauled by standard steam locomotives. Once absorbed by the Tours tramway system, the line was electrified.
