Born in Natal—today known as KwaZulu-Natal—Dougie A. Amos has always carried with him a spirit of adventure and resilience. His career first took him across the globe, working on construction sites in far-flung places, where he gained not only expertise but also a wealth of experiences and stories. After retiring, Dougie quickly realized that a quiet life was not enough. Boredom became the spark that reignited a long-held dream: to study the craft of writing and finally give voice to the imagination that had accompanied him throughout his life.
What began as a pursuit to fill time soon grew into a passion and a purpose. Through dedication and creativity, Dougie has transformed his knowledge, travels, and reflections into stories and poetry that capture both the grit of lived experience and the wonder of imagination.
He extends his heartfelt gratitude to the family, friends, and colleagues who have stood beside him, offering encouragement and unwavering support throughout his writing journey. Their belief in him has been the steady foundation on which his words now stand.
