An ethnographer of music and sonic culture focusing on urban East Africa, he served as a postdoctoral research associate on the European Research Council-funded "Music, Digitisation, Mediation" project and currently co-directs NYU Abu Dhabi’s Music and Sound Cultures (MaSC) lab. His work appears in a range of journals and edited volumes, including the books Keywords in Sound and Music and Digital Media: A Planetary Anthropology. His co-authored article, "Mobilising African Music: How Mobile Telecommunications and Technology Firms are Transforming African Music Sectors" is currently the most read work in the Journal of African Cultural Studies.voir moins
