Shida Bazyar was born in Hermeskeil in 1988. She studied creative writing and cultural journalism and for many years worked in political education. 2016 saw the publication of her debut novel Nachts ist es leise in Teheran (The Nights are Quiet in Tehran) which centres on the Iranian Revolution and a fictional Iranian family who flee to Germany. The novel draws on Bazyar’s own family history, and won a number of prizes including the Ulla-Hahn-Autorenpreis and the Uwe-Johnson-Förderpreis. Her second novel, Drei Kameradinnen (Sisters in Arms) was published in 2022 and was longlisted for the German Book Prize. Her work was honoured with the Ernst-Toller-Price.voir moins
