David Zagier managed to escape from Botchki and get to South Africa in 1927. He eventually became a journalist, working first in South Africa, then in Paris and London. During the war he made his way to the US, where he was recruited into the OSS, the forerunner of the CIA. He continued working for the CIA after the war, based first in Germany and then in Japan, until he was purged from it in the 1950's, a victim of McCarthyism. He managed to rebuild his life becoming, several years later, a college professor. He died in 1998.voir moins
