His teaching career started in Jasper, Indiana, where he taught elementary, middle, and high school art. He also has taught at Somerset Community College in Somerset, Kentucky, Brescia University in Owensboro, Kentucky, and the University of Kentucky in Lexington. He is presently professor of art at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky, and a full-time practicing artist who produces and exhibits realistic watercolors and sprayed automobile lacquer assemblage paintings on metal Alucobond surfaces. He is a published nonfiction writer.
