Born and raised in Idaho, Mr. Warberg graduated from Idaho State University in 1961 with a degree in English. He taught high school English in Pocatello, Idaho for three years. Following that, he began graduate school at Utah State University, but left to begin a career as a Special Agent with the F.B.I. where he stayed for 25 years. During his time in the Bureau, he was trained as a hostage negotiator and as a profiler in unknown subject cases involving serial rapists, child molesters and murderers. He cooperated in the research that the F.B.I. was conducting on serial offenders. During his time in the F.B.I. he received a Master of Science in Special Education with an Emotional Distrubance Option from Montana State University – Billings.
Following his retirement, he and his family relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Warberg attended the University of Georgia and obtained a Master of Science in Social Work. He received his licenses a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and worked as a therapist with psychiatrist Gene G. Abel, exclusively treating sexual offenders.
After several years as a practicing therapist, he attended the American International Institute of Polygraph in Atlanta. His internship was completed in England where he took part in a research project polygraphing sexual offenders on probation. This project took him to England on two more occasions. He was a member of the faculty which taught the first polygraph school in England at the University of New Castle, New Castle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom.
A polygraph examiner for twelve years, he only tests sex offenders who are on probation or parole. He has conducted tests on sexual offenders in Georgia, Connecticut and New York. He continues to do such tests. In addition he has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters all dealing with sexual offenders.
Mr. Warberg and his wife Mary currently live in a cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia. They share their time and space with two Shelties, Sally and Ruby. They have two married daughters, one living in Georgia and the other in New York. The Warbergs enjoy spending time with their grandchildren, as well as spending time in the nature that surrounds their cabin.
