John Cauthen is a South Carolinian, born in Charleston and raised in Columbia and Clinton. He went to the University of South Carolina and began his textile career with Burlington Industries, where he was Executive Vice President of the company’s Men’s Wear Division. He later joined Springs Industries, at the time the largest textile company in the country. He was an Executive Vice President at Springs and responsible for Textile Manufacturing, Research and Development, Corporate Engineering, Facilities Planning, Industrial Engineering, Transportation, and Corporate Purchasing. Cauthen was also on the Board of Directors of the South Carolina Textile Manufacturers Association, named Textile Man of the Year by the National Association of Textile Industrial Engineers, and served on Clemson University’s Textile Advisory Committee. Now retired, he lives with his wife, the former Shirley Page of Columbia, S. C., on a100 acre farm in the small community of Van Wyck, S. C.voir moins
