He graduated from Gorham High School and attended Cornell University, where he majored in biology and chemistry. He went on to earn his MAT in biology teaching at Harvard University. After four years as a high school science teacher, he completed his doctorate at Harvard University in science education and served as professor of education at the University of New Hampshire for forty-three years, earning the Distinguished Professor Award in 2007 and served as Director of Teacher Education. He returned to the farm in 1975, where he now raises Hampshire sheep and standardbred race horses.voir moins
