Eji, as she is fondly called, is the first of three siblings born to British-African parents, Dandy and Lara. Eji comes from a closely knit family background, a setting that provides all the needed care and support for her and her two siblings, where they are encouraged to be the best in their individual aspirations.
Eji’s passion for reading and writing started very early, and in 2013, at the age of 11, while she was in primary school year 6, her writing skills gained recognition when she received the BBC Blue Peter Book Award for poem writing. A year later, in secondary school, Eji, a stickler for information and an avid reader, contributed a poem titled “My Problem Question” to the Young Writers’ Mini Monologues Southern Writers publication of 2014. Eji may have achieved notability through poem writing, but her storytelling ability actually set the platform for these achievements.
Eji’s nursery and reception school years were spent between Whitstable Nursery school in Bermondsey and Gallions Mount School in Plumstead; both schools are located in London. She was at Whitstable from 2001 to 2003, and then, due to her family relocating to Plumstead, Eji transferred to Gallions Mount School, where she spent close to four years. A second family relocation to Greenhithe, Kent, in 2007 resulted in her transfer to the Craylands School in Swanscombe, Kent, where she spent her primary school years.
In 2013, Eji moved on to the Leigh Academy in Dartford, Kent, for her secondary education, where she is till date. She has received numerous recognitions for her writing, academic performances, and attitude to learning.
Apart from writing, Eji’s other interests include drawing and photography, the latter a hobby she picked up from her academic module. She also enjoys swimming and singing; she is a member of her church choir. As a mentor, Eji heads a group of younger people in dancing art and choreography in her church.voir moins
