1. Vice-President of the Indian Institute of Public Health Engineers, Kolkata.
2. Member, Executive Committee CITYNET, Yokohama. Japan.
3. Chairman of All India Council of Mayors. (He was Mayor of Vadodara Municipal Council).
4. Member,United Cities Local Government- Asia-Pacific (UCLG ASPAC), Jakarta, Indonesia.
5. Member, Executive Committee, International Council lor Local Environmental Initiatives, (ICLEI).
As a Director General of the Institute (1996-2015), he has organized two World Mayors Conference (1998 &2005) in India and a number of international conferences on various aspects of urbanization, environment, and other related issues. He has special interest in urban governance, urban management and environment.
He has written a number of books on urbanization and environment. A widely travelled person, the issue of climate change is close to his heart, which he raises from various forums.voir moins
