Before that he was a member of the Tasmanian Parliament during which time he served as a cabinet minister and Speaker of the House. Andrew Lohrey meditates daily and is a long-term devotee of the south Indian mystic known as Amma. He edited the book by Alex Carey, Taking the Risk Out of Democracy and was the author of The Meaning of Consciousness, and Speaking of the Numinous: the meaning of meaning.
