He is currently a staff writer at The Durango Herald in Durango, Colorado, and a deployed Army National Guardsman stationed abroad. He wrote Fire in the Sky, an award-winning account of Colorado’s 2002 Missionary Ridge Fire, voted Best Nonfiction Essay Book in 2003 by the Colorado Independent Publishers Association.
