Martin is an Air Force Retired Colonel and resides in Arizona with his wife, Linda, after living in several states and two years in Japan. He is a pilot; a definite traveler, adventurer and serious genealogist who leaves no stones unturned in searching for his ancestors who helped shaped this nation during the American Revolution and through the western migration during the gold rush days of the mid-1800s. He is happiest when exploring the country’s libraries, state archives and searching for additional family members scattered throughout the United States. He has authored one other book, “The Anthology of General Joseph Martin.” General Joseph is his fourth-great-grandfather who lived in Martinsville, Virginia and for who the town was named in honor of in 1791.
Colonel Martin is a relative of John Hammack, Sr.’s wife, Mary “Nellie” Martin, the mother of Martin, Brice, and John Jr. Hammack. Nellie was the daughter of Captain Joseph Martin, Sr., Colonel Martin’s fifth-great-grandfather of Albemarle County, Virginia, who died January 14, 1762. Martin Hammack’s mother, Mary “Polly” Martin, was Colonel Martin’s half, third-great-grand-aunt. Her husband was Daniel Hammack.voir moins
