The sense of the rural community has been the basis for my choices in life. I attended a one-room public school, Comber and Wheatley Continuation High Schools and London Normal School, (called Teacher’s College today). When teachers were scarce in the early 1960’s I taught on a Letter of Permission at Powassan District Secondary School. To renew the Letter, I had to show one university credit each year. By taking night courses and summer school, I graduated from Nippissing University and finished up with a Specialist in Guidance and Counselling from The University of Toronto. When I retired from teaching, I took a course in writing children’s literature. As president of the Retired Women Teachers, I was the editor of LUNCH BUCKET CRONICALS, a history of the one-room country schools of East Parry Sound., collected and written by the retired teachers of the area.voir moins
