He served as the pastor of the Chattanooga Presbyterian Church from 1862 to 1873, including the tumultuous years of the Civil War. Much of the memoir describes those war years in Chattanooga and the Reconstruction years that followed.
David McCallie is a retired physician who practiced in Chattanooga for over 40 years. He is a grandson of THM. His education during his primary and secondary school years included instruction at the feet of four of THM’s sixteen children, one of his daughters-in-law, and two of his grandsons. Dr. McCallie earned his bachelor’s degree from Princeton, 1944 and his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania, 1946.voir moins
