Mebenin Awipi came to study in the United States after completing secondary education in Nigeria. He received undergraduate education at Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey and graduate education at Columbia University, New York, NY, all in Electrical Engineering. On completion, while the Biafran Civil War was taking place in Nigeria, he took a job at Bell Telephone Laboratories, Holmdel, New Jersey. In 1981, he returned to Nigeria for four years before returning to the USA in 1985. He taught at Tennessee State University, Nashville until retirement in 2005. He was also elected and served on the Board of Public Education from 2002 to 2006.voir moins
