Description

?️?? #127 - Let kids play alone - Peter Gray Episode available in original version and french version. In this episode, we'll discuss an article co-authored by Peter Gray that explores the inhibiting effect of parents on their children, even in the absence of explicit instructions. We will also discuss the harmful effects of constant surveillance and lack of freedom in children's development. Peter Gray is a developmental psychologist and director of research at Boston College. After receiving his doctorate in biology from Rockefeller University in 1972, he was a professor in the Department of Psychology at Boston College from 1972 to 2002.He is known for his critiques of the traditional education system and is regularly invited to speak to groups of parents, educators or researchers. He opposes current methods of education which he believes inflict psychological damage on children.I also highly recommend his book “Free to Learn” which has just been released in pocket format in France. We will discuss changes seen over the decades, including a continued decline in children's freedom to play independently and be responsible for their actions. The evolution of the way children go to school, for example, or the evolution of the part-time jobs they can do. We will discuss the consequences of these changes on the mental well-being of children and adolescents. All these activities will be called independent activities in this episode. Finally, Peter Gray will propose solutions to encourage independent play and socialization of children in their neighborhood. He will share success stories where neighbors came together to organize outdoor playtime, allowing children to make real friends and have enriching experiences, on their own. Thanks to Peter for his time and trust!ℹ️ Article : https://www.jpeds.com/article/S0022-3476(23)00111-7/fulltext Fellow and supportive greetings ✊?✊✊?✊?✊?✊?✊??️‍?      Cedric--------------------------------------------------Le site du podcast : https://papatriarcat.fr/Pour t'abonner à la newsletter : https://subscribepage.io/NLpapatriarcatRéagir à l'épisode : https://www.speakpipe.com/papatriarcatPour vous abonner à des contenus exclusifs : https://plus.acast.com/s/8ba59308-1b26-5bd9-9fb2-9d0e873d4579Pour un accompagnement personnel : https://www.cedricrostein.com *******************************************Crédit musiques : www.bensound.comCrédit dialogue : BRUT - le sexisme chez les enfants (youtube)Soutenez ce podcast http://supporter.acast.com/papatriarcat.
