PUTTING ON THE RITZ… AT TEATIME
he latest French-style high tea at the Ritz hotel on place Vendôme is perfect foodie fare. Set in the cozy surroundings of the Salon Proust, it’s a great way to spend an hour or two in good company. The menu by the hotel’s pastry chef, François Perret, gives a new twist to Proust’s iconic madeleine, a shell like sponge, often made with almonds, in a trompe l’oeil creation that tastes like a Baba – a small, rich sponge cake, usually soaked in rum. Like a journey on which you embark with your drink as your guide, the Baba soaks up the delicate aromas of tea, Panama chocolate or coffee from Maison Bacha Coffee.
